The German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) is an independent scientific advisory body set up by the German federal government. It analyses and reports on global environment and development problems and reviews and evaluates national and international research in the field of global change. WBGU publishes flagship reports every two years, making its own choice of focal theme. In addition, the German government can commission the Council to prepare special reports and policy papers.
