The German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) is Europe’s largest independent think tank in the fields of international politics, and foreign and security policy, according to their website. With offices in Berlin and Brussels, SWP’s policy advice is primarily geared towards the German government and Bundestag, as well as relevant international organisations such as the European Union, NATO and the United Nations. Its work draws on its own extensive academic research, as well as the exchange with other research institutes. SWP employs about 140 staff, thereof 50 researchers.
