We are hiring: European Journalism Project Manager

Can you connect the dots for the coverage of Europe's Green Deal across the continent?Foundation-funded and non-profit, we at Clean Energy Wire CLEW want to make a difference by strengthening top-quality journalism on the energy transition and climate policy – the move to a climate neutral Europe. Since our launch in 2014, we have provided thousands of journalists with facts, context and contacts to cover the defining stories of our time. We have organised online and offline briefings, workshops and events, and our regular research tours have taken hundreds of journalists to the places where the transition happens. Nearly 300 journalists from all continents have signed up to our CLEW Journalism Network and hundreds more are affiliated through joint events, cooperation and partner networks.As we are strengthening our position as the go-to guide to the energy transition in Europe, we are looking with immediate effect for a committed colleague to join us as:

European Journalism Project Manager m/f/d (80-100%) in Berlin

You will have a clear understanding of what it takes to create the best journalism to cover the European Green Deal across the continent.

You will help us develop new approaches and products to improve the cross-border coverage of the energy transition in Europe. Together with our Berlin-based European correspondent, our team of expert journalists and our growing network, you will develop products that will enable journalists to report on the relevant Green Deal policies to ensure adequate coverage of the EU’s and the member states’ important energy and climate policy stories. You will also organise and manage collaborative projects with external partners to ensure that journalists have easy access to top-quality sources across Europe.

Main duties include:

  • Developing, organising and managing journalistic products that connect the stories across Europe
  • Coordinating collaborative work on stories from different countries
  • Researching and writing of input and articles the European Green Deal and the European policy agenda
  • Working with the team and management to create new formats and to secure additional funding

Key qualifications:

  • Substantial experience in journalism, ideally in coordinating projects and team work
  • Excellent understanding of the European Union and its media coverage
  • Strong grasp of the energy and climate policy aspects of the Green Deal; work experience in EU member states a plus
  • Professional experience in working in international networks with a global perspective
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Fluency in English is essential, good German a big plus
  • Work permit for Germany or European Union
