Atâyi-Babs Opaluwah

Atâyi-Babs is CLEW ambassador for Nigeria and West Africa. As a journalist, he helped establish the Hausa Service of Radio France Internationale (RFI) and implemented the station’s start-up media strategy for West Africa. Additionally, Atâyi launched and administered RFI’s website and first radio magazine programme on climate change in the Hausa language called Chanji Yananyi. In 2013 Atayi-Babs established Climate Reporters, Africa’s first bilingual online newspaper dedicated to the coverage and reporting of climate change and the region’s environment. Atâyi-Babs was a 2018 Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue Media Fellow and he considers being a CLEW Journalism Network ambassador an opportunity to advance the frontiers of energy transition while addressing the sustainable development needs of people in Nigeria, West Africa and the entire African continent.
