Germany's National Meteorological Service, the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) is a public institution responsible for providing meteorological services for the general public or for industrial customers and users. They also issue weather forecasts and the official warnings of dangerous weather phenomena such as strong winds and floods. They record, monitor and evaluate the short- and long-term change in meteorological processes and the composition of the atmosphere. The DWD operates measuring and observation systems across Germany.
