FEN - Center for Flexible Electrical Networks

The Center for Flexible Electrical Networks (FEN) is an association of institutes of RWTH Aachen University and industrial partners. Its objective is research on future electricity grids designed to integrate decentralised  sustainable energy sources. The transdisciplinary research concentrates on the integration and development of direct current (DC) technology at all voltage levels and grid solutions for alternating current (AC) and DC grids. This also touches on communication technology, cloud services, integration of energy storage and societal aspects.
