Forschungszentrum Jülich is an interdisciplinary research institute and a member of the Helmholtz Association. It combines nine research institutes working in the areas of energy and climate, bio- and geosciences and nanotechnology (amongst others). Scientists at the Institute of Energy and Climate Research cover the topics across the energy sector, including photovoltaics and fuel cells, nuclear fusion, nuclear safety research, nuclear waste management, coal and gas power.
