Frans Timmermans, European commissioner for the European Green Deal
Cabinet member responsible for climate policy
Frans Timmermans sets the strategic direction and chairs the Group of European Commissioners with portfolios linked to the European Green Deal since 2019. He is also executive vice-president of the European Commission (EC). As the EC lead for the climate portfolio, Timmermans is also responsible for the European Climate Law, the European Emissions Trading System and the European Climate Pact.
