Dr. Tanya Baycheva-Merger

Tanya joined ICLEI in January 2025. Her responsibilities include supporting the management of the ICLEI Action Fund 2.0, fostering impactful data-driven climate action initiatives; supporting the Coordination and Transfer Office Model Projects Smart Cit (KTS) to enhance smart city solutions. Her role emphasizes project management, stakeholder engagement, knowledge transfer, and fostering innovative solutions for sustainable urban transformation.
Before joining ICLEI, Tanya worked as a post-doctoral researcher (2019–2024) at the Chair of Forest and Environmental Policy at the University of Freiburg. From 2024, she also served as a teaching fellow at University College Freiburg (UCF). Her research and teaching activities primarily focused on the adoption and application of advanced information and communication technologies (ICTs) for environmental and natural resource management.
