Mixed prospects for success of Germany’s sustainability strategy, report says

Federal Statistical Office

The German sustainability strategy has mixed prospects for fulfilling its 2030 goals in many sectors, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) says in a press release on the latest indicator report on the strategy. At current rates, Germany is not on course to meet its goal in greenhouse gas emissions reduction. In other sectors, such as primary energy consumption, the indicators’ trajectory is even running in the opposite direction, Destatis says. However, 24 out of a total 65 indicators have already been achieved or will be achieved if current trends persist, according to the statistical office.
