Share of pure electric vehicles in Germany’s new car registrations rises to one percent in 2018

The number of new electric car registrations in Germany rose almost 44 percent to around 36,000 in 2018, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). Given the year’s total of 3.44 million new car registrations, the share of pure electric vehicles rose to one percent, while plug-in hybrids reached 0.9 percent. The share of petrol cars rose to 62.4 (2017: 57.7) percent, while diesel’s share fell to 32.3 (38.8) percent.
