The Senate of the Republic (often abbreviated simply to Senate), in the Italian political system, is a legislative assembly which - together with the Chamber of Deputies - constitutes the Italian Parliament. The two branches of Parliament (or Chambers) relate according to a perfect bicameral system, that is, they perform the same functions in equal degrees, albeit separately.
