The German Association of Towns and Municipalities (DStGB) represents the interests of German cities and municipalities at the state, federal and EU level. Through 17 member associations, 11,000 municipalities are organized and networked. The German Association of Cities and Towns is politically independent and does not depend on government grants. Members of the different executive bodies are selected in accordance with the results of local elections.
