Achieving the 2030 and 2050 climate targets will benefit Germany’s economy, according to a multi-institute study commissioned by the environment ministry. “Especially if energy efficiency becomes a maxim for the modernisation of the economy, future savings can more than finance the investments necessary today,” says a press release by the Institute for Applied Ecology, which led the research. This approach would also boost innovation and learning effects for the transition to an environmentally sustainable and technologically advanced economy, according to the 375-page report.
